How the documents work together

  1. 1

Choose your route: Decide between the Master's route (through your nominator) and the Shared route (through a participating university), using the comparison in this guide. (User Guide)

  2. 2

Check eligibility: Confirm citizenship and residence, degree class, financial need and the rules specific to your route. (User Guide)

  3. 3

Set your deadline: Enter your nominator's internal deadline or the Shared closing date, whichever applies, in the timeline. (Application Timeline)

  4. 4

Choose your courses: Research three Master's choices in preference order, or the courses on the Shared Scholarships list, and apply for admission. (Statement Worksheets)

  5. 5

Collect stories: Write 12 to 20 true stories and tag them to the CSC criteria. Look at the coverage sheet for gaps. (STAR Evidence Bank)

  6. 6

Brief referees: Send the brief early: references must be uploaded in CSC Central by the closing date. (Referee Brief)

  7. 7

Work the statements: Answer the recall questions, choose your stories, plan each part, then write your own text offline. (Statement Worksheets)

  8. 8

Gather documents: Passport or ID and full transcripts for all higher education, with certified translations if needed. (User Guide)

  9. 9

Check and submit: Run each self-check and the final checklist. Nothing can be changed after you submit. (User Guide)

Programme rule on AI and help: The CSC's application pages do not set out a specific rule on AI tools. They do say that your study plan must be written by you, that copied text may be considered plagiarism, and that references must be in the referee's own words.

Questions about this kit

What is the difference between Master's and Shared Scholarships?

For Master's you apply through your national nominating agency; for Shared you apply to a listed course at a participating UK university. Both submit in CSC Central. The guide sets out the other differences, with sources.

Does the kit contain example statements?

No. The CSC treats copied text as plagiarism and expects your study plan to be your own work, so the kit gives you questions, structures and checks, never text to copy.

What are the word limits?

CSC feedback refers to 500 words for the Development Impact section. For the other sections, check the limits shown in CSC Central and enter them in the worksheets' draft trackers.
