Application Kit for Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters

Prepare your Erasmus Mundus scholarship applications from your own experience. Every consortium sets its own rules, so this kit makes you copy each programme's exact requirements into the worksheets, then helps you plan each letter, your CV and your references.

What's inside

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_User_Guide.docx

This guide: how the kit works, the programme's rules, and your final checklist.

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_Motivation_Letter_Worksheets_TEMPLATE.docx

Three sections: a comparison sheet to record and prioritise several programmes, a motivation letter planner to repeat for each programme, and a CV planner (Europass where your programme asks for it). Each starts with a box for your consortium's exact instructions.

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_STAR_Evidence_Bank_TRACKER.xlsx

Your true stories in Situation, Task, Action, Result form, tagged to the themes consortia usually assess, with a coverage sheet that shows gaps.

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_Interview_Question_Bank_TEMPLATE.docx

Practice questions for consortia that interview shortlisted candidates, grouped by theme, with space for your story IDs and key points.

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_Referee_Brief_TEMPLATE.docx

A factual brief for each referee: what your programme asks of them, the format, the deadline and reminders of work they saw. One brief per programme if the requirements differ.

  • Europe_Erasmus_Mundus_Application_Timeline_TRACKER.xlsx

Back-planned tasks from your earliest programme deadline, rows for each programme's own deadline, the published pattern of the cycle and a cost tracker.

Who it's for

  • Graduates or final-year students applying to one or more Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters
  • Applicants who want structure for several different motivation letters without sample text
  • Applicants in Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Ghana, where EMJM scholarships are open to all nationalities

How the documents work together

  1. 1

Shortlist programmes: Search the EACEA catalogue, open each programme's own website and confirm that it offers EMJM scholarships for your intake. (Motivation Letter Worksheets)

  2. 2

Copy each programme's rules: For every shortlisted programme, copy the deadline, document list, letter length, CV format, reference rules, language scores and selection criteria into the comparison section. (Motivation Letter Worksheets)

  3. 3

Set your dates: Enter your earliest programme deadline as your main deadline, and each programme's deadline in the milestone rows. (Application Timeline)

  4. 4

Collect stories: Write 12 to 20 true stories and tag them. Check the coverage sheet for gaps. (STAR Evidence Bank)

  5. 5

Brief your referees: Send each referee the brief with your programme's reference format and deadline, plus your CV. (Referee Brief)

  6. 6

Plan each letter and your CV: Answer the recall questions, choose your stories and plan the parts your consortium asks for. Then write your own text, programme by programme. (Motivation Letter Worksheets)

  7. 7

Check and submit: Run each self-check against that programme's rules and submit on the consortium's own website before its deadline. (User Guide)

  8. 8

Prepare for an interview: If a consortium invites you to an interview, practise the questions aloud. (Interview Question Bank)

Route check

Choose this kit if you are applying to Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters, where each consortium runs its own application. If you have two years of development-related work and want a German course, see the DAAD EPOS kit. Applicants of any nationality may apply (source: https://www.eacea.ec.europa.eu/scholarships_en).

General information

General information, not admissions advice. Every fact in this kit is checked against the programme's own pages and linked to its source. Rules change between cycles.

Programme rule on AI and help: We found no EU-level rule on the use of AI tools in Erasmus Mundus applications. Any rule comes from the individual consortium: read your programme's application page and declaration before you use any AI tool or outside help, and follow it.

Questions about this kit

Does this kit contain sample motivation letters?

No. Your letter must be your own work, so the kit gives you questions, structures and checks, never text to copy.

Does the kit give my programme's word limit and documents?

No single rule exists: each consortium sets its own. The worksheets make you copy your programme's exact instructions before you plan, and any consortium named in the kit is an example only.

Do I have to pay to apply?

No. EU rules forbid consortia from charging any student an application fee, and EACEA warns that EU scholarships are never granted for a fee (source: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/programme-guide/part-b/key-action-1/erasmus-mundus-joint-masters).
