What's inside

This guide: how the kit works, the programme's rules, and your final checklist.

  • Europe_DAAD_EPOS_Motivation_Letter_Worksheets_TEMPLATE.docx

Four sections: course choice and priority order (with each course's deadline and extra documents), the single motivation letter, your two years of work experience and employment proof, and your CV (Europass template).

  • Europe_DAAD_EPOS_STAR_Evidence_Bank_TRACKER.xlsx

Your true stories in Situation, Task, Action, Result form, tagged to the EPOS criteria, with a coverage sheet that shows gaps.

  • Europe_DAAD_EPOS_Interview_Question_Bank_TEMPLATE.docx

Practice questions for the telephone interview with university staff that follows shortlisting, grouped by criterion.

  • Europe_DAAD_EPOS_Referee_and_Employer_Letter_Brief_TEMPLATE.docx

A factual brief for your current employer (and anyone else whose letter a course asks for): what the letter must show, its format and your deadlines.

  • Europe_DAAD_EPOS_Application_Timeline_TRACKER.xlsx

Back-planned tasks from your earliest course deadline, a row for each of your three courses' deadlines, the published pattern of the cycle and a cost tracker.

Who it's for

  • Professionals with at least two years of development-related work after their bachelor's
  • Applicants from countries on DAAD's EPOS country list (check yours; Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Ghana are on the OECD DAC list)
  • Applicants who want structure for the single motivation letter without sample text

How the documents work together

  1. 1

Check eligibility: Confirm your country on DAAD's list of eligible countries, your two years of post-bachelor work by the application date, your degree length and grades, and the age of your most recent degree. (User Guide)

  2. 2

Choose up to three courses: Pick courses only from the current EPOS list. Record each course's deadline, language level and extra documents, then fix your priority order. (Motivation Letter Worksheets)

  3. 3

Set your dates: Enter your earliest course deadline as your main deadline and all three course deadlines in the milestone rows. (Application Timeline)

  4. 4

Ask your employer early: Send the brief to your current employer for the recommendation letter and employment certificates. (Referee and Employer Letter Brief)

  5. 5

Collect stories: Write 12 to 20 true stories from your work and studies and tag them to the EPOS criteria. (STAR Evidence Bank)

  6. 6

Plan the letter and CV: Answer the recall questions, plan the one letter that serves all three courses, then write your own text. (Motivation Letter Worksheets)

  7. 7

Assemble each file: Put the signed checklist first and follow its order. Send a complete file to each course by its own deadline, not to DAAD. Keep PDF copies of everything. (User Guide)

  8. 8

Prepare for the interview: If you are shortlisted, there will be a telephone interview with university staff, and only you may take part in it. Practise the questions aloud. (Interview Question Bank)

If you do not yet have two years of work, see the Erasmus Mundus kit.

Questions about this kit

Can I write a different letter for each course?

No. The EPOS FAQ asks for one identical letter for all your courses that also explains your priority order. The worksheet is built around that rule.

What is the EPOS application deadline?

There is no single date. Each course sets its own deadline on its website, and late applications are not accepted. The kit makes you record the deadline of each of your courses.

How much is the monthly stipend?

The EPOS call states EUR 934 per month for graduates (EUR 1,300 for doctoral candidates), as shown on 20 October 2026. Confirm the amount in the current call at https://www.daad.de/go/en/stipa50076777.
